Twitter Post

Two brothers operating out of their moms garage are making $30k/ mo cleaning area rugs…

I stumbled upon this goldmine randomly and got all the deets from the owners.

Here’s the scoop

🧵

rug

I was literally just driving along on my way home from San Diego, weaving through a random neighborhood that Waze took me through and I saw a sign that caught my eye:

Area rug cleaning

Behind the sign I see a garage and driveway full of rugs.

I couldn’t help myself. I had to stop

(Literally did a full U turn to check it out)

Rug cleaning sounds boring.

Until you meet Anthony & Alex.

Two brothers. No team.

Just casually cleaning area rugs.

Some worth hundreds, some worth $50K or more

Their dad started the business years ago. After he passed, they kept it alive.

Today they run it themselves. While I was there a customer stoped by that had been one for over 20 years.

Customers are sticky and only want the best to deal with their family heirlooms

Revenue? ~$30,000/month.

All word-of-mouth.

All local (mostly).

Some rugs get shipped in.

It’s that specialized.

Now they’re expanding into a warehouse:

But it’s still just the two of them.

Mastery scales slower than software. But it lasts.

Don’t sleep on niche trades. Especially ones built on trust, story, and skill like this.

This is the kind of business you can’t replicate with AI.

Craftsmanship is alive and well. You just have to look in the garage.

I have no shortage of stories and awesome business ideas. It’s like following [@mhp_guy[(https://x.com/mhp_guy)except I’m way less successful. 🤣
