Are You REALLY Necessary
In the early 2000s there was an internet show called Kicked In The Nuts.
A random dude would get “kicked” in the nuts and as they were bent over in pain, the kicker would point out the camera and everyone would get a good laugh.
I was kicked in the 🥜 the other day… and I needed it.
Here’s the story

I’ll make a long story short, but I deleted a very important note and couldn’t get it back… yes i tried logging into iCloud and all the trouble shooting suggestions. Nothing worked
Last resort, reset my phone to factory settings….
I went for it.
Reset and deleted everything with the goal of using the last iCloud back up.
Everything was working smooth until I realized I didn’t remember my appleID password. It was in my notes….
I was out and about and away from home where my computer was.
So now I was in purgatory of an iPhone restart until I was able to get the password.
I recruited my wife in this adventure and was able to get my password and get the reboot going.
BUT WiFi where I was, was awful and the restore was interrupted mid way leading to a VERY long afternoon.
The whole time I’m stressing about what I needed to do or who needed to get a hold of me. It was a weird, naked, in the middle, unknown territory and I didn’t like it one bit.
Several hours later, my phone was back in action and I opened it to get right to ALL the people that I’d need to get back to…
Totally in shock, I had very few important emails, no urgent messages, nothing burning down, everyone working as normal… I wasn’t really needed.
Then it hit me. In a good way… I’m not that important.
I have a great team that handles tons of tasks that I’ve delegated over the last couple years and generally nothing I’m working on is life or death.
It was in this sweet/ sour moment that I realized I need this kick in the nuts from time to time to remember that THINGS CAN WAIT.
The police work I do IS life or death sometimes, but my businesses are NOT.
It’s easy for us to get sucked into the vortex that we are SO important and life won’t go on without us… but that’s a lie.
TL:DR - Reset your phone from time to time, it’s a great reality check
