Build Relentlessly and Permissionlessly
Suppose—
there’s a thing that you don’t like doing but you actually ASK to do anyway
And then everyday, you force yourself up to go do this thing— voluntarily— that you really don’t like doing…
You start doing this thing when you’re young and you continue doing it through the prime years of your life
You miss
birthdays
special occasions
kids games
and pursuing what you ACTUALLY like doing
…Because you don’t know any other thing to do.
For years you count down the day until you get to stop doing this thing
And when that time comes, you’re not the same anymore
Your kids are grown, your body is broken, you’re tired…
NOW you can start doing the things you like to do…
Of course there’s nuances and exceptions to all this. It’s not that easy. Not everyone has the luxury of doing the things they love to do everyday…
But that shouldn’t stop you from trying.
That shouldn’t stop you from doing everything in your power to pursue the greatness that you believe you’re capable.
Maybe it’s only on nights and weekends.
Maybe you can do it in the early morning hours before you leave to do the other thing.
Maybe you can overlap a bit and build while you’re doing the other thing…
But please hear me on this— You were meant to do amazing things! Do not let your days slip by ONLY doing the something that you really don’t like doing.
Build relentlessly and permissionlessly until the momentum you create cannot be stopped.
