Chipotle is the Startup GOAT, here's why

The story of Chipotle is near and dear to me. It’s such an awesome story of underdog entrepreneurship and grit that so many don’t know.

Seeing this is just another reason to love 🌯

First, this is a picture of Starbucks stock after the announcement that the CEO of Chipotle was taking over at Starbucks.

While it’s not DIRECTLY related to Chipotle, it’s like when Jordan went to go play baseball. You still follow and root for Jordan.

Steve Ells, the founder of Chipotle, came out of culinary school in the early 90s and had a wild idea for a restaurant that served high quality ingredients, but did it fast. “Fast Casual”.

He got a loan from his dad for 85k and started Chipotle in Denver, Colorado in 1993.

Just 5 years after, McDonalds invested $50M 😳

Most startups don’t even make it 5 years. But Chipotle was now running with the big dogs.

Over the next several years, Chipotle continued to grow and went public in 2006 and has since expanded to 500+ locations.

From 1 to 16 to several hundred!! 📈

Sure they’ve had their issues over the years, but what company hasn’t?

Other than the incredible food that is also VERY macro friendly, my favorite part of this company is the ability to grow internally.

I’ve had multiple family members who have worked there and climbed the ladder. If you’re motivated, the sky is the limit.

Very similar to the way In-N-Out promotes from within.

To see Chipotles influence on such a HUGE company like Starbucks, I’m proud to be from Denver and to have experienced first hand the growth of one of the few places I am MORE THAN HAPPY to pay extra for my guac
