Does $1M Views Actually Matter?
Hitting 1M views on YouTube was supposed to be life-changing…
It wasn’t.
One of my best friends just hit this lifetime goal and sent me a text that completely blew my mind.
🧵
My buddy runs a YouTube channel for drawing tutorials called the Bread Family Art Show.
Super cool stuff. After a few years of trying to figure it out he’s been gaining some recent traction.
His SpongeBob video hit 721k views and he’s consistently in the 10-20k views with each post.
Legit!
The numbers were climbing and he was getting closer and closer to his 2 year goal of 1M views… then it happened!
But after that, the realization set in and reality hit.
As he reflected on it, he sent me this text:
Let’s break this down:
- “No one cares. Keep going.”
The milestones aren’t everything. You have to first love what you’re doing. You have to enjoy the process, the game, the act of creating. And when you can get lost in that, magic happens
- “There was no such thing as shorts”
There will always be something new coming up. You can’t worry about that. Your focus needs to be on the product you’re putting out. The VALUE you provide always need to be a level 10. Then you can adapt that to the “new thing” as needed.
- “Only the strong survive. Keep going.”
Phil Knight said it best:
The cowards never start, the weak die along the way and then that leaves us.
It’s wild to see this milestone hit and to hear his new perspective.
He’s also not deterred.
He’s more fired up than ever. But now he knows the game. He’s leveled up and ready to go.
Remember;
“Only the strong survive”
I absolutely LOVE this game. I wrote all about how I’m building an empire while working as a full time cop. Check it out here👇
