Your Unfair Advantage Is the Boring Thing You Already Know

I talked to somebody this week who's been doing SEO for about ten years and was low-key apologizing for it.

Not in those words. But you could feel it. He kept saying stuff like "I'm not that creative" and "I'm not a risk taker" and "I'm just dangerous enough at SEO." Meanwhile this guy has ranked websites at the top of page one in brutally competitive markets for a decade.

Let me tell you what I told him, because I think a lot of you need to hear it too.

The boring skill you've been grinding on forever is your UNFAIR advantage.

Here's what's happening right now. A flood of people are jumping into building websites, directories, AI agencies, all of it, with zero background. They one-prompt a site, throw it up, and move on. No research. No follow-up. No idea why some pages rank and some don't.

And then there's you. Sitting on ten years of knowing exactly how this actually works. You think everyone has your skill because you live in that bubble. They don't. You're bringing a foundation that most people building in this space have never even touched.

That's not nothing. That's the whole game.

So stop discounting the thing you're bored of. The stuff that feels obvious to you is the stuff other people would pay to learn. Your years of reps are the moat. AI just deleted the grunt work that used to eat your whole week, which means your judgment is now the valuable part.

The other thing I want to reframe...

He told me he wasn't a "real" entrepreneur because he's not a ready-fire-aim guy. He wishes he moved faster and took bigger swings.

I don't buy it. Entrepreneurship isn't a personality type. It's a mindset. It's the pull to build something of your own. Some people hear that and think it sounds terrible, they want a system already built and one person above them calling the shots. Nothing wrong with that at all. But if you feel the pull to create the thing, to own the outcome, to be the one it all comes down to... you're already an entrepreneur. Full stop.

And the "move fast" thing is a learned skill, not a birth trait. You pick it up by being around people who take action quickly. Here's the part nobody tells you though. Most of those early "risky" moves aren't actually risky. They're calculated decisions that just look bold from the outside. You don't have to bet the house. You just have to take the next small, smart step.

So if you've been sitting on a decade of some skill and telling yourself you're not creative enough or bold enough to build with it... knock it off.

Take the thing you already know cold. Combine it with what AI can now do for free. And take one calculated step this week. Not a leap. A step.

The experience you're a little embarrassed about is the exact thing that's going to make you win.
