Every Kid Wants a Badge. I Want Mine to Want a Business

Twitter Post

It's really interesting hearing what kids want to be when they grow up.

And further, knowing how that changes when you ACTUALLY grow up.

I went to one of my kids classrooms yesterday and the teacher played a video showing what all the kids wanted to be when they grew up.

The most popular ones:

  1. Firefighter

  2. Police Officer

  3. Doctor

Super standard answers, but why?

When I was 19, i went though fire academy and worked for a volunteer department for a bit. Then at 25, i went through police academy and worked as a cop for 10 years... so I don't blame them

But still, why is that so common?

It bums me out that more adults dont own a business or have that entrepreneur "bug". I think the life of building businesses is so much more exciting than being a cop or firefighter... and I've done both!

I realize i'm not the majority, but i'm still curious why those fields are still so popular.

I'd be happy to raise a future cop or firefighter, but I also want to raise them where they dont feel like they have to work for anyone. That they can make a living and build their dream life completely on their own without a "9-5"
