Finish the last 20%

Blog · Nov 06, 2026

I heard something this week that made me sit up a little.

There's a guy who does marketing… and his whole thing now is this:

Did you vibe-code a website and get it about 80% of the way there?

He'll finish it.

And it's doing really well.

Then I heard about a home-service guy's site. Solid business, knows his stuff… and the website just didn't match. Pictures in the wrong place, not optimized for the phone, text bleeding into itself on mobile. Desktop version looked fine. Phone version was a mess.

The owner said it out loud… some guy built it with AI, got it about 80% there, and left the edges unfinished.

That little niche of finishing the work really speaks to me.

Because this is what I'm seeing everywhere right now.

AI made it stupidly easy to get something standing — a site, a funnel, a dashboard, a "system." People prompt their way to 80% and then stall. The photos don't sit right. The mobile layout is broken. The last integrations never get wired. The thing kind of works… until a real customer tries to use it on their phone in a parking lot.

And the person who can walk in and finish that last 20% — the polish, the mobile pass, the stuff that makes it feel like a real business instead of a half-built demo — that's a job. A good one.

You don't have to invent the next SaaS to make money with this stuff. You can take the almost-done thing and make it done.

There's a catch though…

If you're trying to make money, you still have to ask: is this a person who wants to finish a hobby project, or a business that needs this finished so they can sell?

Chase the business.

The hobby projects will eat your week and pay you in "thanks."

The businesses will pay you to untangle the last 20% because they don't have time, and they've already felt the pain of shipping something that looks fine on a laptop and falls apart everywhere else.

We're in this weird moment where half-done AI work is everywhere. Somebody's going to make a living cleaning it up.

If that's the lane you're in… go find a business that's stuck at 80% and finish one.

Stay in the fight, Kevin

Pulled from a live call I was on and turned into this post with my AI setup. I spoke these words and my system cleaned them up. I use it to mine and produce content from my daily life and document the lessons I'm learning at a volume that wasn't possible in the past. If you see this footer, I used this system. If you don't, I wrote them word for word.
