How To Write Your First Book
81% of people say they want to write a book, only 3% of people actually do it.
I don’t like being a “wanter”, I’m more of a “doer”
So— I’m writing a book.
And I’d put money on it that I’m not the only one here that has wanted to as well.
As I go, I’ll share with you the process that I figure out in real time.
I realize not everyone wants to actually write a book. Some just the idea of it. I have thoughts on that as well.
Below are my initial takeaways from the process so far. Starting from absolute zero book writing experience.
🧵
Find your audience and DEFINE them. You want to think —> What’s the impact your book is going to make? What value are you providing and WHO would benefit from it.
Put yourself at the end result that your book will provide, then funnel your readers into that result.
This could even be something like using the book to grow a business or START one based on the subject of the book
Map out your book at first with a spider web. You know like we used to do in elementary school!
Then create an outline of the sections and break it down with the chapters before you start your rough draft
You can even dictate the rough draft if that feels better. Then just take the transcript and organize it
Give yourself permission to dump the words and write with freedom as you get your rough draft out. Don’t edit as you go.
That’s as far as I am right now. Writing the rough draft.
As I do more, I’ll share more. Happy to go into more deets if anyone has ever thought about doing things well.
