If we lost everything, we’d be ok — test
I got married at 23.
I was still going to school, working at a gym and barely scraping by.
My wife was totally the bread winner at the time, but even she wasn’t making much.
We had nothing to our names, but we had a vision for the life that we wanted to build.
11 years later, we are currently in progress of building that dream.
I can’t emphasize enough how much a force multiplier it is to have a significant other that witnesses your “wild ideas” and “pivoted projects” and STILL sees the potential you have.
I joking call this the “If we lost everything, we’d be ok” test
This goes hand in hand with the “would you still marry me if I was dirt poor” test.
Money can’t be the only pursuit. While it helps with a ton of things (especially when trying to build the dream) it’s not everything.
What if you lost EVERYTHING from a bad investment?
What if you went all in on an idea and it failed miserably?
What if you bet on yourself and lost?
— What would you have left?
If you can honestly say that you’d still have a family that loved you, you’re ALREADY living the dream.
