IG Vs Twitter

Twitter Post

It took a little over a year, but I just passed up my following on IG with my following on Twitter.

Now it’s truly not about the number, but I’m using it as a comparison between platforms

For a handful of years I built up my IG.

Originally just for personal and then for I my coaching business I used to run.

But for Twitter, I went in with a purpose.

It has been a platform to share value, engage with other like minded thinkers, build connections, start businesses and GROW.

Twitter has not disappointed.

I know the way posts used to go viral doesn’t really happen anymore, BUT that doesn’t mean you should stop sharing.

The purpose shouldn’t be for going viral (as cool as that is) the purpose is to build a following of loyal fans that care about and resonate with what YOU have to share.

I OFTEN think about going to a more video format friendly platform… or even going back to IG with shorts, but I’m drawn to the written word. And my ability to sit down and write far exceeds my ability to film.

@itscoachgoodman wrote about this in his book The Obvious Choice (so good!). He could have easily started producing more video content several years ago.

His colleagues and other coaches were doing it. That was the wave he saw, but doing so pulled him away from what he loved doing and what made sense at the time.

All this is to say that as much as you might want to find the perfect platform, it might not exist…

Instead look for the one that you can stay consistent with. The one that allows you to share your content the way you want to share it. The one that allows you to go deeper than surface level doom scroll.

Right now, I’m bullish on Twitter

BUT I accept the fact that could change.

Moral of the story. Just create content. Don’t look for the platform. The platform will eventually find you.
