Leaving a 6-Figure Career to Build Something Bigger
Being an entrepreneur is so much fun! But talking to OTHER entrepreneurs is almost just as fun.
One of the best comeback stories i've hear this week from a guy I just met:
In 2007 he was a full time editor and started building drones out of his garage back before drones were a mainstream thing. He just saw opportunity
in 2011 he started importing drone parts from China to sell to his friends and other amateur drone peeps.
In 2015 he saw a problem: Everyone was crashing drones in the water. He cashed out his 401(k), got on a plane to China, met a dude from the internet who could build a factory and then launched the world’s first waterproof drone
A couple years later, the partner went around his back and started selling direct. No worries, this is what he did:
He moved to China.
In 2023 he built his own factory, hired his own engineers, designed and manufactured his own waterproof drone and launched the second ever waterproof drone.
It took off.
2024–2025 his new company is crushing his old one and he hit 7 figures.
The take away here is that you cant just bet on yourself once; you need to KEEP betting. Stay in the fight.
