Lucrative Golf Ball Biz??

Twitter Post

Making $60,000+ by diving for golf balls??

Who knew!

We’re on a little family vacay this week by a golf course.

I stood outside on the balcony looking at the green and thought “what happens to those golf balls that land in the water?” 🤔

So I did a little research and was blown away.

From my googling to your Twitter feed, this is what I learned 👇

First off, it’s a legitimate business! 🤯

Companies are contracted out to golf courses where they have an agreement to recover the balls for a flat fee and then usually a split of the resell of the balls.

Divers retrieve the balls, clean them, grade them and the resell them direct, bulk and online.

SURPRISINGLY, these balls can resell up to 80% of its original price potentially upwards to $2.00 a ball.

This is a numbers game though.

The more balls, the more money.

The key is landing the long term contracts with golf courses and expanding to new regions.

Another consideration would be the staff.

Not everyone can dive and not everyone who CAN dive will want to so this.

It could be a solid side hustle for an owner operator OR a business that employs young college kids looking to make some extra dough and you’re okay taking a hit on the profits.

Thinking through this, if you wanted to really grow you might also consider owning every part of the process.

This would include the golf ball recycling process and the distribution.

Each stage of the process could be operated on its own.

You could subcontract out the diving and then just clean and resell.
