An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success
2.3min Read
It’s 5am on Friday 10/31 (it’s Sunday for you) as I type this up.
Every morning, even now as a “stay at home entrepreneur” I'm up at 4 getting the day going.
You would think that if you don't have a physical address of work to go to that you would actually get to sleep in a bit…. FALSE 🤣
It’s actually more of the opposite. The work NEVER stops and the sooner you get after it in the day, the better off you’ll be.
Here’s the cool thing though— If you love it, it’s actually exciting to wake up and realize that you GET to do that work, instead of you “have to” go to work. That simple reframe is absolutely life changing.
That’s another email within itself. TODAY however I want to address two things. Quick things. But important things.
- If you don't ask, you’ll never receive
- Paradigm shifting quotes for you
Crazy story—
I just finished reading The Art of Entrepreneurship by Jim Stovall. ABSOLUTELY incredible book. HIGHLY recommend it. As I was finishing the book, It occurred to me that Jim would be an amazing guest to bring into the TKO community that I’m managing now... (and yes that is an affiliate link 😉)
Jim shared his email in the book, so I figured “why not”. I’ll shoot him an email and see what happens.
To my surprise, he responded. Jim is an author, speaker and a legend of an entrepreneur, yet he is still taking the time to respond to random readers like myself.
It would be easy to think — “I’m not going to email him because there is NO way he will actually respond. He’s too busy”… and in that case, you’re right. The fact that you don't email them, guarantees that you wont receive a response.
But you have to try! MOST of the time, the people we look up to, the authors we admire, the entrepreneurs that we want to connect with WONT respond… That’s not the point though. The point is that YOU HAVE TO TRY.
The next time you’re reading or watching something and want to connect with that person, just do it. Send the email!
Now for the paradigm shifting quotes.
I won't go into each one, I’ll just leave them right here for you to digest. These were from my friend and an incredible mentor of mine, Austin Linney.
“Your impact and empire come from boring reps. You’re trying to skip from idea to empire without letting the flywheel build torque.”
“Knowing that you’re destined for more makes you unstoppable.”
“The better you get at cooking, the farther you get from the kitchen.”
“If we don’t create mechanisms in our week that give us small wins — the long game starts to erode us.”
“Stop trying to create things that take a year to pay off. Create something stupid that gives you $20 this week.”
Lots to chew on there.

I just quit my job and walked away from a 6 figure salary, pension, benefits and all the vacation days I want.
And while this might be the SCARIEST thing I’ve ever done, I couldn’t be more excited.
Nothing here was easy, but it’s doable.
Here’s the story of finally
My favorite tweet this week:

So you hired a rockstar and suddenly they aren't a rockstar anymore?
I promise you it's 1 of 2 reasons:
You aren't investing time in them. You're absent. "Hire great people & leave them alone." False. Hire great people & KEEP investing in them.
Poor incentive structure.
