These items I’m about to cover are worth hearing and understanding. Especially if you’re as curious as I am.
What I’m building —
I’m very pro on HOME SERVICE businesses. AI is very relevant, but regardless of anything that develops with AI, these businesses will run.
Here’s my suggestion on getting into home services:
Option 1 - buy an existing business. One that you can wrap your head around, maybe even operate yourself or find someone to be a GM. I know it sounds crazy to just BUY A BUSINESS, but this kind of thing is done all the time. Seriously. It’s possible. The search is really the hardest part.
Option 2 - Start one and build. My business partner started a lawn care company with a mower and a trailer. He’s now pushing $500k / year with high margins.
Option 3 - Partner with someone who already has one and work with them to expand it. I’m currently doing this right now (while also looking for another to acquire). There’s a lot of overlap with home services with very similar customers for every service. While someone who’s looking for a lawn care job isn’t also looking for their trees trimmed, it’s not that far of a stretch.
Home service is a great place to be. But what’s even better is combining new tech and old school boring businesses like these. THAT’S what will separate you from the pack and set you apart.
TRENDS:
I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but I’ll risk it to drive the point home. You need to be utilizing AI in your daily life more. Now I’m not trying to get all “AI bro” on you, I know this doesn’t interest everyone, and that’s ok. But if you are an entrepreneur— which you probably are if you’re reading this… you are missing out on one of the most substantial transitions in tech that we’ve ever seen.
So what does this look like to “use AI more”. Well, start simple. Use various models (LLMs) like Chat GPT, Claude, Grok, Gemini, etc and just play around with them.
Talk to it. Ask questions. Assign it projects or tasks. Just start using it.
From there you can experiment with other things like building things. Even just in those models. Create images. Write stories. Build websites. Let your imagination run wild.
And here’s the kicker— just ask it to do those things in normal language. Simply say “can you write me a paragraph summarizing this book that I read in a text message format that I can send to my friend to convince him to read the book?” And it’ll do it!!
Start there. Then after that, we can talk more.
BUSINESSES IDEAS I LIKE:
- A consulting agency that connects with businesses that want to sell in the next year and makes them appear outdated. It creates a value add appearance for the private equity guys that are looking at it. Kind of backwards thinking, but it’s true— the value add scenario is highly sought after
- A YouTube channel where the host just makes food / recipes that AI generated. Totally random. But then couple that with a cook book, course on using AI to cook and even a mobile app… and now you have a solid businesses
- On Site knife sharpening. Target salon owners or chefs. They’re either spending thousands on new scissors/ knives or they’re spending time sharpening them. Charge $100-$200 per visit and start building a team of mobile sharpeners. Maybe even franchise
THE NEXT 3 YEARS:
AI will totally disrupt not just tech and white-collar work, but also blue-collar boring jobs too.
Everything from trucking and bookkeeping to HVAC and consulting will be affected.
We’re not just talking about the chatbots you see right now— think AI employees, AI therapists, and even AI CEOs.
What’s wild is that this is already happening.
What I think this will look like is just a lot of movement.
There will be a ton of white collar workers that transition over to blue collar work and bring their business savvy with them. In turn changing that industry.
Lots of movement, but also lots of opportunity.
PARTNERING:
I’ll keep this one short and sweet. I believe entrepreneurship is a team sport. It’s so easy to want to keep your idea/ your business/ your secret sauce/ whatever, all to yourself. Because that makes sense right? If it’s just you, then it’s just you making all the money… right? Well, ya the math works out. But it doesn’t take into consideration the exponential leverage that you’ll create by working with someone else that compliments you. So instead of telling you to just figure it out and build it yourself and “make it happen”, I actually think you need to partner up. Find someone that can add value to your idea and share it with them. You’d be surprised the extraordinary things you can create when you partner with someone else with just as much motivation as you but an entirely different skill set.

We’ve covered a ton on AI today already, so I’ll just leave you with this. It’s not totally AI related but it’s to show you that when you see opportunity knocking, you answer.

Instead, he reverse-engineered PayPal’s docs—and built a $95 BILLION company at 22.

One of my all-time favorite type of videos is pre-fame bands playing their extremely famous songs to a tiny room of people, because they're not yet known.
A thread of some examples:
Bastille playing Pompeii in what looks like someone's living room:
