How often are you chasing something bigger than yourself?

How many of us have had dreams or aspirations of playing professional sports, or being a sponsored athlete, or traveling the world, or building a house on a bunch of acres and raising a family there?

How many of us have had big, delusional, crazy, semi-unrealistic goals that, as we got older, we let go of? Not because we wanted to let go of them. But because it almost felt like society was pulling us away from something that big.

Have you heard the story of the crabs in the bucket? If not, here's the TLDR.

There's an old man fishing on the pier, and a little boy walks up. Right next to the old man is a bucket, and it is FULL of crabs. Tons of crabs in the bucket.

As the boy is standing there watching the bucket, he spots one of the crabs trying to crawl up the side. So he steps closer to the old man and points.

"Sir, there's a crab trying to get away. You want me to help you get it back in?"

The old man says, "Don't bother. The other crabs in there will keep him from getting out."

And sure enough, that crab got pulled right back in by the other crabs in the bucket. They self-regulated. Self-policed. And the one crab that was trying to do something bigger and better and escape... got pulled back in.

That story is very similar to the lives we live as humans.

The people around us point us back into the bucket.

Oftentimes it's not your close friends and family. But sometimes it might even be your friends. Your family. The people you work with or go to school with.

And it's not because they don't like you. It's because what you are doing, or trying to do, sparks something deep down inside of them. It reminds them of what they want to do and what they're NOT doing.

And because of this effect, people who once had these big, awesome dreams and aspirations get, bit by bit, pulled back into the bucket.

So this might have happened to you. Maybe without even realizing it. You just slowly gave up on some of the big things you wanted to accomplish.

This is me telling you to go back through that list. Pick something big and crazy and delusional and potentially impossible. And pursue it. Pursue it because it's something bigger than you. Pursue it because it'll make you feel more alive. Pursue it because it will give you a why. A reason. A path. And a destination that your targets are set on. Pursue it because you can. Because you are alive on this planet Earth, and you have air in your lungs, and you are capable of doing great things.

I'm 35 with 3 kids and I'm 5 foot 9. I can't dunk. I'm not going to be a professional NBA player.

However, one of my dreams has always been to be a professional athlete. A sponsored athlete. A world class athlete.

But after high school, not going to college for athletics, and then after college, having found and competed in CrossFit for years, I went into my former career as a cop. My focus was on that work and providing. Athletics were just something in the background that I loved.

But that fire is still deep down inside of me and it's burning. I don't feel like I'm too old to let it go. I'm just having to find what avenue within athletics I can pursue to be world class.

And I think I've found that in Hyrox. And jiu jitsu.

Other delusional goals I have? I want to be a New York Times bestselling author. So what do I do? I continue to write. I write these newsletters. I write content for social media. I write long journal entries that might not ever see the light of day. But I love to write, and I continue writing. And my goal is to one day turn it into something bigger.

I also want to make more than $1,000,000 every single year. And so I am delusionally going after and pursuing business opportunities to make that happen.

What are your crazy dreams? What are your delusions?

What do you want to accomplish that you once thought you gave up on, but now you're gonna reignite that fire and freaking get after it?

I don't know if you know the answer to that right now. Maybe you have to dig deep for the ideas you had as a child. Or maybe they're right beneath the surface, and you know exactly what it is that you need to get out. Either way, this overly motivational email is to remind you that it is not too late.

You deserve to achieve those accomplishments. In fact, you NEED to go after those things.

Because there are plenty of other people who don't have the time on this earth to pursue them. And they sit there with regret in their last days, hours, or minutes.

You have more time than that. So don't waste it.

Okay, this could be a whole other article on its own. But I want to share with you how obsessed I am right now with both Muse (Meta's agentic AI operating system) and Grok Bot.

Now, I was always a big fan of Hermes. I don't think I used Hermes to the capacity that I should have, because I was so deep in the Anthropic ecosystem. Which I still am, and I still love. But I'm seeing myself spreading the monthly subscription love a little more evenly now, with Anthropic, Grok Bot, and Muse all being part of it.

I have the Pro plan with Codex (ChatGPT). I have the Max plan for Claude because I'm a power user. But the more I'm using Grok Bot and Muse... genuinely, the easier life gets.

I'm handing off so many things that I was manually running with the automations I have set up in Claude. And now it's just happening in the background for me.

The difficulty, if you would even consider it a difficulty, is figuring out all the things I can hand off to it. The other part is token usage. You have to be smart about that and set it up properly from the beginning. But if you have not tried Grok Bot, you gotta try it. And I feel the same with Muse. Both, I believe, will only get better.

Until next time...

Stay in the fight,

Kevin
