An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success

I want to pause here and write a different newsletter this week. I had one planned out and pretty much done, but I realized that there was something much more relevant to share.
Just so you know, no one else writes these. And I don't batch write them. They are ALL put together the week of, sometimes just a day or two before. I do that because I genuinely want the content that I write about to be relevant. There’s so many ups and downs of life and I want this newsletter to reflect that. It’s unfiltered and fully transparent.
With that said, I’m totally pivoting and writing a new email to you because I just finished a book that has seriously become one of my all time favorites.

This book was a recommendation and one that I will now continue to recommend from here on out.
Here’s my pitch- If you are an entrepreneur or you want to be one or you have dreams that you want to achieve and you’re trying to figure out how to achieve them and what that might look like, this is a book for you.
I don't think this is a book for everyone, but if you’re reading this email, it is most likely a book for you.
I wish I had a fancy affiliate link that you could use to buy this, but I don't. No kick backs of any kind are influencing this email. Just trust me and read this.
I want to describe the book to you, but I spent 5 min trying to describe it to my buddy Aaron Makelky and my description ended up with me just saying “look, if you don't like this, I’ll buy you lunch”… While I don't think it would be a financially sound decision for me to give each of you that same offer, I will say this. If you don't like this book, email me back and we can hop on a call and chat all about it. I’ll pay you in time.
Also, if you don't want to spend the $13 on amazon, just go to thriftbooks.com and grab it there for $5. Again, not an affiliate, that’s just my favorite spot to buy books.
My goal here is to get the author, Leslie Householder into the community that I’m running now and dig deeper into the meaning of this book. WHEN that happens, I’ll let you know!

Working from home now, there is ALWAYS work to be done. It never stops. The pro here is that I get to work on what I want, when I want… the con is that its’s really hard to shut it off… like REALLY HARD. This might be the first time in my life that I have truly enjoyed the work that I do and can’t stop thinking about it.
But here’s the caveat— I have a family that loves me and wants my attention.
It makes me sad to think of all the times that my kids haven’t talked to me or told me something because my head was in my phone.
I don't really have a solution for that yet, but one thing that I’m doing more often is if I need to handle something and everyone is home and its suppose to be family time, I step out of the room for a few minutes so that I can handle the thing quickly and quietly and then go back and reengage.
This doesn't always work out, but it’s a start. And again, not sure if this is the best solution, but we will eventually get there.
Progress over perfection

I’m 54. I’ve been to the mountaintop, both literally and figuratively. I’ve run harder than most, for longer than most, and learned all the lessons (usually the hard way).
