If you're reading this newsletter every Sunday, you might feel like I sound like a broken record right now. And if that's the case, then that's a good thing β because that means you've been listening, you've been hearing what I've been saying, you've been paying attention, and hopefully you've been taking action on what I'm about to tell you.
If you haven't, that's okay. I will tell you this for the first time.
I believe that the best things in life come from saying yes. And I'm going to give you a real life example of two things that have recently come up that I said yes to. And these things weren't even your typical opportunity.
Saying yes in life is more than just waiting for somebody to ask and then you answer. Yes in life is a mentality where you are constantly staying open and ready for opportunities that come your way β and then taking action on those opportunities. Even when you're not sure of what the outcome is, because honestly we are never, ever sure of what the outcome will be. We think we know, we can weigh it out the best that we can, but ultimately we don't know what's going to happen.
The yes mentality is a proactive mentality. It's a mentality that oftentimes makes life uncomfortable, maybe even difficult, but the reward for a yes mentality is that you put yourself in the way of success.
It's definitely a double-edged sword, and I want to make that clear. When you have a yes mentality and you're saying yes to opportunities that come up, you will ultimately involve yourself in opportunities that don't end up working out. And that's the reality. The more shots you take at the goal, the more chances you have to make a goal, but also the more times you're going to miss. And that is just part of it.
With that said, there are two real life examples that I'll describe to you that are in the works now, mainly due to the fact that I try to stay ready for opportunities that come up even if I don't feel ready for them. I recognize them, I see them, and I take action on them.
- This is a pretty cool one and it's something that I am in the middle of building right now that I believe can and will be incredibly successful in multiple layers. The synopsis of this is that every business, big or small, needs to check several different boxes in order to really truly become findable. In the past, if you had a Google Business Profile and a website, you might have been good to go.
But even those two things don't suffice anymore. The businesses that are ranking the highest, have the most backlinks, and are ultimately the most findable are the ones that have put this whole package together.
But most businesses, most operators, most people in general don't know what this package is. But I do! And I've just stumbled upon this methodology for working with businesses β the smaller ones β in order to make them findable by using the same sort of strategies that I've developed with other creators and entrepreneurs to help them grow!
What's crazy is that this is more possible to scale now than it's ever been because of the development of AI! What before used to be a huge pain in the butt is now something as simple as hopping on a call with a business owner, taking that transcript with specific questions that I've asked them, and then repurposing that into everything that we need in order to expand the reach of that business. And it works because nobody is going to the extent to create this content.
Business owners don't wanna be on podcasts and they certainly don't wanna run their own podcast. They don't wanna write blogs or post blogs. They don't want to do anything outside of what they need to do in order to make money and operate a killer business. All of that other stuff gets left in the background.
But because I listened to a podcast where somebody was doing something similar, because I reached out to that person to talk to them more about what they were doing and how they were doing it, I now have this package that I've put together. And almost immediately got two clients paying several hundred dollars a month for this ongoing service!
This is not a flex or a brag. That's not what I'm trying to do here. What I'm saying is that I listened to the podcast and things just clicked with what I was hearing. And I took that a step further and I reached out to that guy and I talked to that guy. And then I put together my own package and then I talked to small businesses that I know that might need the service. And sure enough, they do need the service and now I'm fulfilling the service because I saw the opportunity and I took it.
- This one is in the really early stages, but I'm so excited about it that I want to share. And this is a perfect example of what the yes mentality looks like.
Here's the story. I was on another Twitter profile posting for a client of mine, and on their feed I saw a post from a guy that has a really essential Instagram handle. His post was that he owns this handle but hasn't done much with it and is looking for someone to partner with and grow it. I don't even follow this person, but I copied the link, sent it to myself, opened my profile, followed him, and messaged him immediately saying, "Hey, these are my credentials. This is what I do and what I've done. I'd love to talk to you further, even if just to get to know you and talk shop."
To my surprise, he responded almost immediately. We scheduled a call, and today as I write this, we just had an hour conversation that could have easily been two or three hours. We talked about family, life, fitness, content, business, entrepreneurship, goals, retirement, and tons of things in between. It was an incredible conversation and we hit it off right off the bat!
What this looks like it will be β and again, I don't know exactly what this will be β but from the conversation, it looks like him and I will come to a partnership agreement to work together and build this Instagram page, which I believe can be so much more. The potential for in-person events, brand and sponsorship deals, podcasts, YouTube β so much can be done because this handle is so awesome! And even with very little work he's done on it, he already has about 15,000 followers. I can only imagine what it will look like if we find a good rhythm and style and put some work into it!
I don't know what revenue could look like yet. There's zero revenue right now and it will be all upfront work. But when brands get involved, there could be a lot of money. If in-person events are created and tickets are sold, there could be a lot of revenue from something like that.
The outcome is not clear. But what I saw was something that really aligned with what I'm good at and what I'm already doing. So I said, heck, why not reach out? And if anything, just have a conversation. Now that conversation is leading to a second conversation, and that second conversation will most likely lead to a partnership, and that partnership could lead to money β which would be super cool!
But it's also in a very specific niche that I'm passionate about and love. So it'll be fun just working with a like-minded individual, producing content about something I'm passionate about and interested in. That will be fun in and of itself!
I realize all of that was a lot. Those were longer stories. If you got through those stories, then I think you are also somebody that either one likes my emails, two likes to read, or three, you're also ready and open for opportunities that come your way. And if that's you, keep doing what you're doing, you're awesome! Remember that saying yes and having that mentality isn't a passive thing. It can become a passive thing when you've front-loaded it with proactive work. All of the guesses will become their own flywheel of opportunities. And even then, you still need to recognize them and go after them. But until that point, stay open, stay ready, and stay willing to get after something even when you're not sure of how it's going to turn out.
Thank you for showing up today! I appreciate you!
