An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success

3.5min Read

For the last couple years I have thrown out New Years resolutions and done what I’m about to tell you instead.

I’ll be honest, I’m a little bit behind completing it this year, so this email will act as accountability for me to actually get it done. It will ALSO give you the opportunity to work on one yourself and start 2026 better and with more clarity than you’ve EVER started a year.

The format of this was pieced together from a handful of key contributors. James Clear, Matt Ragland and Jesse Itzler to name a few. As I read through the writings and watched the videos from each of these incredible entrepreneurs, I found little nuggets that resonated and combined those to be what I have here.

Is it perfect? No. But that’s not the point. Perfection is never the goal. PROGRESS is. And that is exactly what you’ll find when you actually stick with something long enough. That’s really the biggest problem with New Years Resolutions that I’ve seen— they are shallow. This is DEEP.

Like I said, I have not done mine yet this year, so I will report back when I have it completed so you can see what it looks like. This email is HOW to do it so that you can complete yours by the end of the year as well.

Below is the template. Glance over it for a second and then scroll down as I explain each section:

1 - Clean out
2 - Impact messages
3 - Taking inventory
a - WRAP
b - Personal Landmarks
c - WINS
4 - Reset
5 - Personal Landmarks
6 - The Needle Movers
7 - Daily Vitamins

THE BREAKDOWN—

1 - CLEAN OUT.

Start with THE DEEP CLEAN

  • Go through your closet and clean out clothes you don’t wear.
  • Clean out your desk
  • Clean out your email
  • Full clean out of the car
  • Any other junk that you might be holding on to that you don’t need, clean it out.

Set yourself up with a new starting point. Over the years we gather things. These things take up room in our house and our heads. I’m not a minimalist movement guy, but if you have unnecessary junk, clean it out. Now is the time. Once a year. No big deal.

2- IMPACT MESSAGES.

Everyone that you can think of that’s made a positive impact in your life this last year, send them a message and let them know.

It doesn’t have to be anything big, but just a simple message is incredibly meaningful. Things like that often go unsaid.

You’re better than that, speak up and let those people know.

3 - TAKING INVENTORY.

I call this the WRAP. This one is from Matt Ragland.

The goal here more than anything is to both review the previous year as well as look forward to the next year for what you want to achieve. Without a plan, we plan to fail, as they say.

Plans also allow you to break from the routine. PLAN in the adventure. This will create newness and excitement.

As Stephen Covey says, “Wars are won in the generals tent”.

And the foundation from every good operational plan is an understanding of your previous plan, or lack there of. This is what we call TAKING INVENTORY. Before you design your year, take inventory on the previous year.

The WRAP is broken down to these 4 sections listed below.

[Wins]
What went well? What am I proud of in 2025?

[Results]
What were the results of my goals and intentions in 2025?

[Alignment]
Are my actions and habits aligning with the person I want to be?

[Pivot]
Based on my 2025 review, what do I want to pivot—or plan—in 2026?

Ok now this is where the rubber meets the road...

PERSONAL LANDMARKS & NEEDLE MOVERS —

Your personal landmarks are broken down into
HEALTH, WEALTH, RELATIONSHIPS and GROWTH.

Take these and write down up to 5 things that you want to hit for each category.

These are the big landmarks, know these and visualize these. But accomplish them by breaking them down further.

Your NEEDLE MOVERS:

Pick ONE big thing from that list that will be your defining year accomplishment. That’s your "Misogi".

Your 6 mini adventures are about you getting out and doing something different, fun, unique to your year. Throw some of your landmarks in the mix with places you go or things you do.

Your winning habit each quarter is something that you might be weak in and want to improve. Stay on it.

LAST, the raging fire starts with a spark, your daily vitamins.

These are the needle movers on the BASELINE level that make EVERYTHING else go. Pick however many as you want and check them off each and everyday.

That’s the run through, but now let’s cover it one more time in reverse so you can see how it stacks.
Each day you check off your daily vitamins of accomplishments.

These lead to success in your quarterly habits, mini adventures and MISOGI.
And each of those correspond with personal landmarks for the year.

As you get to the end of each year, close out the year with summarizing what you’ve done in your WRAP, cleaning out your junk and writing your impact messages.

Then get after it again.

PERSONAL LANDMARKS:

HEALTH
WEALTH
RELATIONSHIPS
GROWTH

NEEDLE MOVERS

💎MISOGI
💎6 MINI ADVENTURES
💎1 WINNING HABITS EVERY QUARTER
💎1 SOLO WEEKEND WITH EACH CHILD
💎6 DATE NIGHTS ANNUALLY
💎DAILY VITAMINS

I know— that was a lot. It’s way easier to NOT do it. Or to just write a normal new years resolution like you always do.

And that’s totally ok if you like normal results.

If you who I think you are and you are sick and tired of the same freaking results and you are fired up to do something better and different this year, try this.

That was a ton! I’m hoping all of you read 'til the end of this, but I know most won’t. That’s ok, life is busy. I get it. But if you did, thank you. Email me back saying that you did and I’ll respond back to YOU.

No bites for today because that as already a lot to digest. But also important.

Have a wonderful Sunday and let me know if you need any help putting together this epic end of the year game plan.

Until next time...
