An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success

1.9min Read

Reality checks are necessary. I had one this past weekend, but in a good way.

I know you weren’t there with me, but I’ll try to explain it so that hopefully you can extract the same lesson.

The reality check came for me at a bachelor party that I as invited to.

I don’t usually dive into many things other than business, entrepreneurship, AI and Coding stuff, but I’ll go a little deeper with you today. Bachelor parties are not my thing.

I don’t drink and I like to be in bed by 9 as often as I can. I’m an early riser, workout and then get my day going. Bachelor parties don’t mix with that kind of lifestyle.

And I’m very much okay with that.

But it was important to the bachelor that I attended, so I was there. And it was through my sober observations throughout the night that the reality check really hit home.

I’ll do the best I can to distill the main points for you in this list:

  1. Being in your 30s is too young to give up on what’s possible.
  2. Complacency absolutely kills dreams
  3. If you don’t like what you’re doing and you’re not doing anything about it, you don’t have the right to complain
  4. Alcohol won’t solve the frustration you have for not accomplishing the things you wished you had
  5. One poor decision can easily lead to the next.
  6. Discipline is a skill that’s trained daily
  7. It’s ok— to be different. To not go with the flow. To not give in to peer pressure. To play to the beat of your own drum. To stick up for what matters to you. To risk being disliked or talked about.
  8. There aren’t any lazy people. There are just people who haven’t truly found what they love to do.

The bachelor party went fine, I’m glad I went purely for those lessons. I was the first to bed and the first up. Still got my workouts in, read my book, journaled and still spent quality time with my buds. All done without regret and without any booze. It can be done. It’s okay to be a little different.

This isn’t my normal style email. On the surface, this might not seem relevant, BUT I think it actually is extremely relevant. This is LIFE. These are the choices that you make in your life that create your trajectory. Everything you do angles your sights either ON or AWAY FROM your target.

Bachelor party weekends, drinking and eating all you can might sound like a “rare occasion” but then what about the birthday party next week? Or the holiday coming up, or the “whatever”? If you have dreams, goals and aspirations— you need to do anything and everything you can to get there. You are capable of being freaking great! Don’t sell yourself short!!

Wow… that kind of poured out. Might need to cool down after that one.

I hope that spoke to you. Even just a little bit. :)

BITES 🍩

🍩 BITE 1
— Solve problems that you have.
More than likely others have the same problems as well.

This little project is because I needed to organize my desktop on my computer. Now I’m building it into something that I’ll launch for others to use.

@kevinasrx

I had a problem with a super messy desktop… so I built an app to solve the problem.

This app is entirely for me BUT I think it’s pretty cool.

I need your help to figure out what to do next.

SECOND — Let me know if this would be best as a Claude code

Another “not fancy but awesome” use of AI:

Purpose — build out the SOPs of your business

Steps:

1) anytime you think of something that pertains to your processes or procedures, record a voice memo of it

2) copy the transcript from the voice memo

3) create a project in ChatGPT and give it a prompt like this

I want to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for my business. I’ll be recording short voice memos whenever something comes up that I want documented. I’ll give you these raw transcripts, and your job is to:

  • Distill them into clear, step-by-step SOPs.
  • Remove filler words and keep only what’s essential.
  • Organize them into sections (Overview, Steps, Notes, Tools/Resources if needed).
  • Make them easy to follow for a new hire.

Do not add things I didn’t say, but do clean up and format for clarity. Ask me if something is unclear instead of guessing.

4) start pasting in the transcripts and organize as you go.

There’s nothing wazoo about this. Just using the tools we now have available to build cool things.

Until next time...

Stay in the fight,

My best tweet this week:

@kevinasrx

Its frustrating when people recommend this book to me.

I’ve read it, I’ll read it again some time, it’s a great book— but that’s not the point.

When this book is recommended, it’s in reference to whoever the “recommendee” is — doing too much.

It’s a subtle jab.

This is the wild story of how I made $1,036,175 during the COVID lockdowns by rapidly creating a new physical product in 7 days.

In April 2020, during the lockdowns I created 2 things that changed my life:

  1. – I launched Shepherd (eventually renamed Somewhere[dot]com). 4
