An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success

What’s up Reader! Happy Sunday!

Regardless of what you’re working on right now, you need to hear this.

Most people think there’s two ways into the world of success, wealth, riches, fulfillment…. But there’s a third way that people don’t really know about or even attempt to use. Allow me to explain:

Think of it like a nightclub. (By the ways this isn’t my analogy, its from this book. It’s awesome! You should just read it)

Think of it like a night club. The first way people think of getting in is though the main entrance, waiting in line with EVERYONE else, just hoping you’ll have a chance to make it up to the front and pass the sniff test from the bouncer. Very few do. It’s a selective process.

Then there’s entrance number 2. The VIP entrance. This is where you’re born into it. You didn’t really do anything other than get it handed to you.

But what I’m telling you right now and what Alex Banayan writes about in his book is that there’s a third door.

This is the entrance that you get to by hopping over the fence, running down the alley, climbing up a fire escape, banging on the window of a third floor apartment, climbing down an air duct, dropping into the kitchen and sneaking in with a waiters outfit on until you get in and can join the crowd.

There’s always another way.

And if you never look for it, you’ll definitely NEVER find it.

Bite 1

What the former CEO of Zappos and Pat Walls have in common

Former CEO of Zappos, the late great Tony Hsieh, was a busy dude. His work day started before most were waking up and ended after most were already in bed. His genius was idolized and any given staff member of his would kill to shadow him.

The author of the book above (The Third Door) was able shadow Tony for multiple days… but how? 👇

As Alex’s time with Tony came to an end, he asked Tony why more people didn’t shadow him. Tony replied “no one ever asks”.

YOU HAVE TO ASK!!

Now let’s bring in Pat Walls. Pat is the founder of the company Starter Story. If you haven’t heard of it, you for sure should check it out. He basically took his passion for learning and turned it into a platform. He interviews other incredible entrepreneurs on how they built their businesses and then he publishes the blueprints. So cool!

But let’s fast forward to the point here. He just launched a challenge to vibecode an app that makes $100k and I’ve been following along. Inspired by what he’s doing, I started filming myself do the same. Then… and here’s the point (I promise) I HIT HIM UP.

I DMd him on Twitter out of the blue, shared my videos and my story and how much I loved his challenge. I threw out a couple ways to collab and ideas on his challenge and left it with that.

It took me 5 min to write, and in the end, nothing might have happened… but IT DID.

He responded, loved the story and challenged me to add to what I’m already doing and publish.

This all happened today as I’m writing this. What’s to come? I don’t know, but you’re guaranteed to never be successful if you never try.

Send the message. It’s worth it!

Bite 2

When your idea flops, what do you do?

First I want to paint this image for you… actually, let’s just have ChatGPT do it

The idea behind this is that every attempt might feel like you’re failing. You keep running up against resistances it’s hard. It’s not fun. But what you’re really doing is just trying to find alignment.

When something flops, it’s not a failure, it’s just another attempt to find alignment.

I wrote about the “Build To Enter” DM group I have going on. Well, it didn’t totally turn out the way I imagined. Was it a flop? NO! Far from it. It just didn’t turn out as planned. And that's okay! This is why we test. And furthermore— this is how we LEARN. If you’re not testing, you’re also not really learning.

Bite 3

Vibecoding a newsletter platform 30min a day

Have you ever had an idea that you just can’t get out of your head and HAVE to do something about it? Welcome to the club, it’s a wild ride! 🤣 I had one of those the other day and the cool thing is, I can do something about it now.

I love sending these newsletters, but here’s the deal, I’m out and about on my phone 95% of the time… maybe more. I do all my writing from my notes then later at my computer I can distribute most of it where it needs to go.

For this newsletter, I use Convertkit… which I love… but it’s not super mobile friendly. It really needs to be from a computer. This causes friction. It requires me to break up the flow of my work and not send the newsletter until I’m home at my computer.

WHY isn’t there a newsletter service that makes this easier? For the creators on the go, for the indie writers, for the solopreneurs… I want there to be a platform that makes sending a newsletter as easy as sending a text.

Enter SimpleSend.

I’m building this out piece by piece and publishing the process. I’m no expert, but I have an idea that I’m working to make reality. I’m sure you have some ideas as well. Follow along and maybe you can build your idea along with me. 🤷‍♂️

The AI Juice 🧃

This isn’t really AI, so I’m not sure if this counts for the 🧃 but have you ever used docs.new? Just go and type in docs.new in your browser of choice. It will immediately take you to a new google doc to start typing on. Mind blown. Maybe I’m WAY behind here, but I just found this out the other day. 👌

Until next time...

There are two types of people—

Those that have the “spark” inside them

And those that don’t.

Before I go further I’ll first define what the spark means. If you have it AND it’s been ignited, no explanation is needed.

THE SPARK is the feeling deep down within you that you were
