An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success
2.5min Read
Doughnut Head! Is it okay if I call you that?
It’s an honorable term, truly! You’re part of the very early crew here that gets a front row seat to this movement.
A movement for those who refuse to settle—for the people who know they were meant for more but don’t yet have the roadmap. This is for the builders, the creators, the entrepreneurs who want to break free from the grind and create a life of autonomy, purpose, and wealth on their own terms. We don’t wait for permission. We execute, we build, and we take full ownership of our time, energy, and future.
It kind of reminds me of this if you’ve ever seen it. By the way, the creator of this video, Derek Sivers, is one of my all time favorite authors and a friend.
Enough fluff, here’s what I’ll break down today:
- Real time lessons from building out a fully subcontracted home service business
- Finding clarity in your dream
- AI round up
- A mystery link that could lead to anything entrepreneur related
NOTE: I’ve added a section here on AI. I think it’s super relevant to business and entrepreneurship and staying up to date on it is important. I’ve actually contemplated launching a separate newsletter all on AI. Would LOVE feedback if you have any.
- Did you like the AI section?
- Would you read an AI related newsletter?
- What are you curious about reference AI?
Bite # 1 - The more details the better
BIG lesson that applies to really any business or any customer, especially when they’re paying good money for a service— Clarity is important.
Here’s the quick breakdown. We received a lead from our rock flyers. The client is interested in about $4200 worth of work which when marked up will be anywhere between $5200-$5600. Solid 25-35% profit.
This is all great. Working as planned. We sent out the quote through Quick Books that looked something like this

And then we received a not so great email back from the customer.
There was more, but these were the main parts

This is a big sale for us and would help get the ball rolling… I didn’t understand what in the world the problem was. How much more detail did he want us to get into??
Then I opened the quote myself that realized what might have happened… the client didn’t click “view estimate” if he did, he would have seen this

Lesson learned, send a follow up email saying “to see the break down of the work performed, click view estimate”.
Bite # 2 - You don’t need to know the vehicle yet
Clarity is found when you have an understanding for both the dream that you’re working towards AND the vehicle that will take you there. But those are deep and TOUGH things to figure out. I don’t claim to know the answers, but I’ll tell you this— generally most people have some kind of idea of what that dream life looks like, but don’t know what the vehicle to get there is… and that’s OKAY. I say this as a living, breathing example.
I have extreme clarity about what I’m building, however the vehicle/s to take me there aren’t 100% clear.
It’s frustrating, but that’s ALSO the journey. Figuring out the vehicles. THAT is the game.
The lessons learned here in this very phase are the lessons that will one day become someone else’s blueprint. This is what makes your story completely unique to you.
If you’re in the mix of this as well and you’re trying to sort out 1) what your dream is and/or 2) what to do about it, then I’d encourage you to write down the best answers you can to these questions:
- What are your likes and dislikes? Write down everything that you like to do and that you DON'T like to do.
- What are your pain points? Are there things that you’ve experienced in your life that have shaped you? Something you’re passionate about? Something that you want to help others through?
- What can you do to help? Think through those pains and all that you like to do/ don’t like and process how you would actually like to serve others.
This isn’t an exhaustive list of things to think about, but when you can find something that you LIKE to do, you’re PASSIONATE about and you know ways you can SERVE OTHERS, then you’re definitely getting closer to figuring out the vehicle.
#HACK - type all these notes out and then drop into chat GPT and have a convo with it about all this. The clarity you’ll find is mind blowing.
Bite #3 - Your weekly AI juice 🧃
TONS going on in the AI world! It’s hard to keep up. This section isn’t going to cover everything, but it WILL keep you in the know on ways to integrate AI into your business and daily life.
- Clone you’re writing -
Gather 5-10 writing samples (emails, posts, or memos, whatev), then prompt ChatGPT to analyze tone, structure, and key phrases. Next, define the formats (ex: thought-provoking questions, big ideas, narrative takeaways). FINALLY, refine the prompt with word count targets, phrases you don’t want, and tone to keep it consistent. What you get is literally an AI-powered writing guru that gives you articles in your EXACT style.
- Clean up your email -
I’m testing out a software called Forage Mail and I’ll tell you, it’s SO freaking cool. If you already have a super clean inbox, maybe you don’t need this, but If your inbox looks like mine, you need this. Everything that comes in gets automatically sorted into folders and out of my inbox and then everyday I get a summary showing all the emails I received as well as a TL:DR of all the newsletters. And plugs right into Gmail. Mind blown. So simple and so helpful.
Bite #4 - Mystery-Preneur Link
