Provide As Much Value As Possible

Twitter Post

If you are in the AI consulting space, this is how to succeed and how to totally fizzle out:

(All of this being personal opinions, observations and anecdotes)

You can only hide the recipe for the secret sauce for so long. And I’d argue that you shouldn’t at all

The gap between what you think is a moat and the ability for anyone with any skill level deploy these things is shrinking.

At one point you needed to know photoshop and then it became canva or figma… now you can build world class designs through natural language.

That was released TODAY from anthropic.

What this means:

The recipe or the “how” didn’t matter. You can’t build a business on the back of a technical moat.

Instead, the business should be built on the back of who you are.

Your ability to develop trust.

Your industry experience or the prior clients you’ve worked with

Your ability to explain something simply

Being likable.

ALL those things are what will propel your success and network to the next level.

If clients went to get the Claude max plan and start building, LET THEM.

If they start coming up with solutions for the problems they have, AWESOME. Encourage that.

If YOU become the IT guy and the implementation guy, you bought yourself a job with a ticking clock.

But if you are the adviser- the dude that’s up to date on everything coming out, a generalist and a bigger picture guy, and most importantly, if you have the ability to simplify the problems they have and guide them through the solution- you’ll CRUSH it!

Provide as much value as possible. Put the power in their hands and then become the guy that changed their lives and the future of their company.

THAT holds so much more power than keeping all those secrets to yourself and pretending like this is super hard to do.
