Run the Gap
This is one of the best analogies I’ve heard in a while:
“Treat life like a football player treats a gap in the line to run through.”
This can be applied to most things, but let’s talk about it in reference to business.
The ball is snapped and it’s handed off to the halfback.
They’re might be a play you’re planning on running where there is SUPPOSED to be a specific gap for you to run through.
If you see it, take it. That’s great!
But it’s not always like that.
If you’re so focused on that one gap that was “supposed to be there” and all of sudden it’s NOT… what do you do?
You find another one.
You have to keep your eyes open for the next gap, the next opportunity, the next chance to get through the line.
When you see it, take THAT one.
But what happens when there isn’t a gap?
Well, you’ve gotta stay tight, full speed ahead.
That one might hurt, but how bad do you want to break through?
To summarize here:
if the planned gap is there, take it
if it’s not, look for the next gap
if there isn’t a gap, lean in hard.
