After being hacked and completely locked out of my Twitter account, I’m back!
Here’s the breakdown and how you can avoid this happening to you.
It was Friday morning, I’m dropping my kids off at school and see an email come in that my Twitter email had been changed…
That’s not good…
Panic mode.
I try and login. Nope. Locked out.
I login from another account and I see a post from my account that I didn’t make.
For the record— I don’t own a Mercedes and I don’t have any crypto… maybe I missed the boat on that. But here we are.
Buddies were calling me letting me know I was hacked.
But at that point, there genuinely wasn’t anything that I could do other than fill out support requests.
Totally helpless.
But not all hero’s wear capes.
Later that afternoon I get a message from a good buddy of mine. This had just happened to him as well.
He had already taken it upon himself to send my email to another buddy who has a connect with twitters team.
All behind the scenes, all without asking for anything. I didn’t even know this was happening.
Like Twitter Super Heros.
It was Friday and then the weekend, so it was a waiting game now.
But these guys are beasts. Monday rolls around and things are in the works.
Support is emailing me back, I have a call scheduled with a Twitter powerhouse and everything is in motion.
Today, I was on the call with the “powerhouse” as he’s texting people behind the scenes.
An email comes in, I reset everything, verify identity and boom, here we are.
First, set up 2FA, PLEASE.
Second, don’t click on shady links in your DMs
Third, be nice to people on here.
You never know when you might get hacked and need some superhero’s to pull you out of a totally locked up account.
