The iTunes Moment for Software
Here’s my theory about AI, vibecoding and SaaS as we know it:
We’re going to get to the point that building your own solution (app) is “just what you do”.
Like it will almost be antiquated to subscribe to a SaaS…
Like how FB is now kind of where more boomers hang out and it feels “old”, it’ll feel like that when someone says they are paying for a subscription.
Yes yes I know what you’re going to say— “the moat isn’t in the app, it’s in the marketing, lead gen, customer loyalty, user interface… blah blah blah”
You’re right, BUT there will be a point when it will just be TOO EASY and that will become the norm.
Just like how iTunes changed music forever. People stopped buying full albums and instead got to choose the specific songs.
We won’t need the full app, we might just need one part of that app, so we build our own personal version.
