The Rise of the Shiny Object Chaser

Twitter Post

I am going to call my shot here and now. The niche creator and focus of one is coming to an end.

Ok, maybe not like ENTIRELY, but the landscape is shifting. It’s shifting to something that for YEARS those of us in this camp have been told is wrong.

Its shifting to something that big time best selling books have encouraged NOT to do…

The creator and by default, the entrepreneur culture is shifting to the welcoming of shiny object chasing.

The jack of all trades and master of none.

The dabbler, experimenter, the “business scientist” if you will.

I’ve said this before, but more now than ever it rings true— Your personal brand is more important than it has EVER been.

Other humans want to interact with, get to know and resonate with OTHER HUMANS. AI is taking over. In a good way. Things are much easier now than they have ever been. I could turn this newsletter into an app of some kind with one prompt in less than a few minutes… how mind blowing is that??

But the flip side of all the AI content is that humans are legit craving OTHER HUMANS.

This will continue to lead to the rise of authenticity. Raw, uncut, rough, transparent, human generated content.

The value brought to the table in your content will win over EVERYTHING.

And with this shift to content containing all those adjectives above, comes the other shift that I'm talking about today— the embrace of shiny object chasing.

While I am still on my “climb” as an entrepreneur, I have the incredible opportunity to work very closely with guys like @mhp_guy who have reached the top of multiple climbs of multiple mountains.

And it’s within these content ecosystems that I have started to see this shift.

Here is the cycle that I see:

All of that is leading to my initial statement— Shiny object chasers are becoming welcomed and encouraged.

Said in a different way: It’s the combo of several things in different proportions that then creates the thumbprint that makes the creator unique.

Here is my call to action for those still reading:

If you are building a personal brand, whatever it is that you are interested in, whatever it is that you really like to talk about, do, build, whatever—

share it.

Lean into it.

Create content about it.

You do not need to be one dimensioned. Screw the algorithm. You’re not a slave to it.

Create content that resonates. Create content that feels good.

Create content that YOU would want to watch.

Follow YOUR passions and interests and put that into the world for the world to do with it what it wants.

Then get back to the whiteboard and create some more.
