The secret sauce to building an audience...

Twitter Post

The secret sauce to building an audience is to “do cool things and then talk about those cool things.”

Which is hard to argue with, but there’s a side effect of that formula that we overlook.

We’re always going to be chasing those cool things. Or at the very least the story that goes along with them.

Again, I can’t argue with that. I do love a good story…

BUT that’s the equivalent of skipping right to the dessert.

There’s so much more to the meal than a dessert. And if I’m being honest, unless it’s donuts on Sunday, I’m not really a dessert guy.

I’m a meat and potatoes guy. Ok, more like ground beef and white rice, but same same.

The point here is that when we are constantly chasing the cool thing to do and then talk about (guilty), we completely skip over the BEST PART, the “how”.

The iterations

The failures

The pivots

The adjustments

The minor successes that make you think you’ve got it figured out until you realize you don’t..s

All of that.

That’s the good stuff.

That’s what I want to see from people.

That’s what would draw me in and bond me with a creator, entrepreneur, artist, writer, businessman.

People (myself included) get so dang caught up in the cool story that we forget that we are all actually just normal people trying to figure it out

And people want to resonate with you.

They want to relate to you

They want to be bold like you

Normalize the normalness that comes along with the long drawn out middle grind space.

Normalize when nothing exciting is happening but you’re still doing a MASSIVE amount of work…

Normalize being in the trenches far longer than you thought you would

Normalize sharing what you have failed miserably at.

Normalize being BOLD and just getting after it.

THAT is the stuff real people with real ambitions and real powerful whys want to see.

THAT is the stuff that will inspire and grow the seeds that you plant.

THAT is the stuff that will NOT make you an influencer, but instead, a LEGEND.
