The Version of Life You’ll Never Know
I just found out that my buddy and his wife have decided to not have kids.
It’s their choice and I totally respect that, but the root of it, at least in this situation, is that they just don’t want them.
(I know because I asked them)
They CAN have kids (as far as they know), they just don’t want them.
Which ultimately is about them.
(As is the decision to have them)
And I’m not trying to sell anyone on anything they don’t want, but if that decision is truly about them and how much better their life will be without kids,
Then it should at least be noted that being a parent, you become a better version of yourself.
You learn things you never knew
You realize capabilities you never had
You take on a selflessness you didn’t know existed
and you find love that you never thought was possible.
More than anything, I’m just bummed for him that there is a potential of life that he will never know.
There’s a lot to be said about being a DINK. But I wouldn’t trade these 3 crazies of mine for all the money and flexibility in the world.
I just found out that my buddy and his wife have decided to not have kids.
