There are two types of people- which one are you?
There are two types of people—
Those that have the “spark” inside them
And those that don’t.
Before I go further I’ll first define what the spark means. If you have it AND it’s been ignited, no explanation is needed.
The SPARK is the feeling deep down within you that you were meant for something MORE.
You might not know what that is, but you’ll figure it out and it will be GREAT.
Many have the spark, but it hasn’t fully ignited yet. It’s there, you feel it, but you can’t put your finger on it.
Some people have it and it never ignites.
I believe that’s where regret comes from—A spark that never became a flame.
The regret will ultimately be blamed on something else, something more tangible and easier to comprehend, but the truth is that the spark just wasn’t nurtured.
In that “spark” state, you can still go about your normal life, your normal job and do your normal thing.
The feeling is there, but it won’t get in your way. You might have visions of a different path or back of napkin ideas or even day dream of “what if…”
…But it won’t totally get in your way.
When the spark IGNITES, however, it’s a different story.
It could have been from something you saw, someone you talked to, a podcast, a book or even a dream…
Whatever happened, you now have a fire inside you, my friend.
At this point, you can’t ignore it. It consumes you. It takes over your every fiber. It becomes an obsession, a relentless pursuit, a journey like no other.
You can try to ignore it, but good luck. That’s an uphill battle of cognitive dissonance.
You’ve seen too much.
You’ve been behind the curtain.
You’ve stepped through the wardrobe and into Narnia.
You took the red pill.
You’re not in Kansas anymore.
There’s no turning back even if you wanted to.
This is when people who don’t have the spark or the flame look at those that do as if they are CRAZY.
When your friends or family start to worry and your coworkers laugh.
It’s because they don’t get it… and they never will.
At this time you need to check yourself.
It’d be easy for this to take over and consume you, but you need to set the ground rules. Your fire is a powerful thing, but YOU are in control.
Give it direction. Give it boundaries. Treat it like a living breathing being… because it is. It’s the passion that lives inside you. It will open opportunities, kick down doors, break through brick walls and help you build an empire… but it does not own you. Make that clear.
And if you do—
IF you are one of the chosen individuals with the spark… the spark that ignites into a fire and the fire that you OWN and direct towards great things… then you are truly living out your purpose. You’ve made it.
