This Taylor Swift Realization Stopped Me Cold

Twitter Post

Something I just learned today about Taylor Swift stopped me in my tracks.

(it's the 4th point I mention)

I have no problem admitting that I am a big Taylor Swift fan. NO problem.

I might not know all the words to all the songs but I've watched her career trajectory over the last 20 years and she does it right.

But what is "it".

So many variables play into this. The 4th point is the most important:

  1. She developed EARLY die hard fans by religiously engaging with them

  2. She took any and all gigs she could from a very young age to gain the experience and put her self "there" before she made it

  3. She has given close to $200M in bonuses to her team at the end of the Era tour.

But here is the biggest point that we all really need to pay close attention to.

  1. Growing up, Taylor never mentioned fame or money. Instead it was just about seeking every opportunity to sing her songs and have everybody singing those same words back to her

This stopped me in my tracks.

The concept that is mentioned here isn't just about being a performer on Taylors level, this is a lesson on living a fulfilled life.

Seeking the opportunities to sing her songs and for others to sing the words back.

Relating this to the rest of us- What are YOUR songs that you should be trying to sing?

And how can you do that in a way that people want to "sing" them back?

Thinking through this, I honestly don't have an answer. BUT I intend to find one.

Take a lesson from Taylors playbook here and find the "songs" that you are meant to "sing" and share them in a way that it makes people want to "sing" back.
