America is rooted in and formed from acquisitions.

Here are the TOP 10 major acquisitions that formed the soil we celebrate today 🇺🇸

  1. The original 13 Colonies (1607-1776): Not a single acquisition, but founded overtime through a series of charters and grants

  2. Treaty of Paris (1783): This basically ended the American Revolutionary War. Boundaries were established, Debra repaid, British troops were withdrawn.

  3. Louisiana Purchase (1803): We purchased about 828,000 square miles of land from France. This doubled the size of the country. 😳

  4. Florida Acquisition (1819): We acquired Florida. Boom! 🐊

  5. Texas was incorporated (a “roll up” if you will 😉) (1845): Texas, won its independence from Mexico was “rolled up” into the U.S.

  6. Oregon Territory (1846): We made a deal with Britain and we’re able to expand the territory to the state of Oregon.

  7. Arizona and New Mexico Purchase (1853): We purchased land from Mexico so that we could build a railroad. 🚂

  8. Alaska Purchase (1867): We bought Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million 🥶

  9. Hawaiian Roll Up (1898): We incorporated the Hawaiian Islands, which became a U.S. territory and later the 50th state in 1959.

  10. Spanish-American War Acquisitions (1898): Lastly, after crushing it in the Spanish-American War, we acquired Puerto Rico, and Guam.
