What You Think Is Important Now, Might Not Matter In The End

Twitter Post

There’s things we do in the short term that we THINK matter in the long term, but they don’t.

Things feel SO serious and so important RIGHT NOW, but if we zoom out and fast forward, most of the little things don’t matter… ever again.

This is in business, health, relationships, life in general.

While we need to take small actions daily to build the long term habits of the successful person we want to be. We also need to work the other side of the coin and LET GO of the tiny stressors that we hold onto so tightly.

I was reminded of this the other day with a story from a dear friend.

His kids are 18 and 16 now, but when he was about to have his second kid and his first was 2, he and his wife had it locked in that their first needed to be done with the pacifier.

He doesn’t even remember why, just the stigma or some notion they had.

For a couple of months before the birth of their second, they battled to get rid of the pacifier.

Once she was born, the battle continued but eventually they won and the pacifier was no more.

16 years later he looks back on it and STILL feels bad. He doesn’t even remember why it was so important. All he knows is that he was worried over a silly thing that doesn’t matter now.

Here’s the catch; it’s hard to learn these lessons in the present time.

You almost have to live it and feel it before you can LEARN it.
