When Work Moves In With You 😎
Working from home is the best thing I've ever done.
I get to take my kids to school and pick them up every day.
I can just grab something from the fridge and eat it at my own leisure
I don't have to chase any suspects down or worry about getting shot at... all very strong pros
BUT, this scenario doesn't come without its difficulties...
These are the items I'm struggling with the most. I'm sure a few of you can resonate:
The work literally never stops. I love every bit of it, but I need to be really intentional about shutting it down at some point
Based on the above item, I have not found a good balance of shutting it down when I need to. This eats into the attention I need to give my kids at the end of the day
Scheduling the week with my wife. Kind of flying by the seat of our pants right now and need to dial in our weeks better
Managing the kids. I thought I was doing a lot before, but there was a 12 hour block of the day that I was gone and my wife did it all... now I'm seeing how much she was doing... a TON!!
Not being on my phone constantly. This is back to the "work never stops" point. I need to get better at setting my phone down and being present
Eating lunch. I literally forget its time to have lunch because I'm in such a deep flow... then I'm HANGRY
Disconnecting. I love this stuff so its what I want to be doing... but I need to actually disconnect. Before, my shift would end and I'd get in my car and completely disconnect.
Again-- best thing EVER, but still with some hurdles to overcome.
