Why Authenticity Beats the Algorithm

Twitter Post

Authenticity has more of correlation to your success than you think.

Especially with social media and ESPECIALLY in the times we live in right now.

What I’m about to break down is a recent and interesting find of mine

And because I feel at home here on Twitter, I’m sharing the ins and outs of building up this content machine.

The screen shots below are all for the same video. Just posted on different channels.

This video on average performed better than the rest of my videos on each of those channels.

But why?

Why did this one hit different?

The algo is a mysterious thing, but that’s why I tested across all platforms.

This video in particular was my first real ā€œday in the lifeā€ that I shared.

The first shot people see when they watch is my hook. ā€œI’m 34 with 3 kids. This is how I dial inā€.

It’s relatable.

It makes you curious.

ā€œHe has kids, I have kids, I want to dial in, how does he?ā€

Followed immediately by a text on the screen for the time.

4:07am is EARLY.

It makes you wonder what in the world is this guy doing that early.

At that point you’re locked in.

Music helps, but it’s not the end all solution.

Shots are quick and jumpy and a story is being told.

I wish I could say I had that all planned out and that’s why I did it.

It wasn’t that way. And as ā€œviralnessā€ goes, this was not even close.

But it was my best performing so far, and I wanted to know why.

This tweet is my best explanation.

Every single person has a ā€œbrandā€ and a ā€œmessageā€ā€”

You just have to experiment enough to figure out what lands.
