A Different World View

We all see and perceive the world through the lens of what interests us.

If you’re a writer, you’ll process conversations you have in articles or books that you can write.

If you’re a musician, you’ll hear songs everywhere you go. Lyrics, beats, rhythms with each experience you have.

If you’re a filmmaker, you’ll analyze every place you go with the eyes of a cinematographer always looking for the best shot.

If you’re a skateboarder, you’ll view the earth as one great big skatepark with jumps and rails everywhere you walk.

If you’re a chef, you’ll go through life with a heightened sense of smell and taste, thinking of new recipe creations with each bite.

It’s not on purpose, it’s just where our attention falls. If it’s important to us, we pay attention to it.

The fun thing is, if you want to achieve understanding and connection with the people that we live with and around, you just have to pursue more interests.

Ones outside YOUR interests.

Step outside of your little zone to open yourself up to genuinely understanding the world.

Even just the slightest bit of overlapping interest can connect you with someone for life.
